DESCRIPTION:It is between volition and constraint that the birthplace of independence exists. This space is the source of some of the
most fundamental human characteristics identity, curiosity, and creativity. If we understand freedom as an ‘arrival’ rather than a
‘pursuit’ – as we often do – we find ourselves unable to cope with freedom’s shifting definitions. But freedom’s pursuit –
that is, exercising resistance is the key to a world of invisible limitations and unlimited possibilities.
But there are those who will not be silenced. For them, the pursuit of freedom is underlined by an incredible sense of integrity and responsibility to both themselves, and the world at large. IFBE salutes these lone crusaders, and dedicates the week of India’s independence to celebrating and amplifying these voices.
From theatre to film to dance to music to literature, year 2 of the Independence Project explores the concept of freedom at the crosshairs of self and society.
